July through October, Round Up and Review

Building kits is fun. Lots and lots of fun! But a blog of only counterfeited kits doesn't serve much purpose. The kit is really only a means to the end. It's high nigh time to share some finished work.

Between our July vacation and a weekend church crop, the four kits of Good'ol Days (May), Good Friends (Apr) Good Heavens (Mar)and One Good Turn (Feb)got all mixed up. The layouts completed and the layouts in progress are products of any or all of these three kits. While on vayca I did some layouts up to the point of needing photos and journaling. These are still waiting for attention. Meanwhile I have four ready to share.
Hello Spring Fling. I boldly flirt with spring, right in the face of winter, by bringing home little pots of bulbs. Aren't I daring? The border challenge from March was used on this layout.

Our Resident Finger Painter. An assortment of out-takes get tied together with a sketch from Scrapbook Generation.

A Pig And A Poke At Some Fun. Again, the left over photos from as story that was already scrapped, are brought together with the Scrapbbook Generation sketch. The little flowers were made with a Stampin' Up punch and bits of scraps. The title refers to Rebecca's love of anything "pig" and the fun we have when we get together. There is Grampa Ivan, in the background on the bottom right. Eight months since his passing and I still feel an acute loss for our family, when I come across photos like this.

I Moustache You A Question. Does this bowtie make me look fat? Recognize the layout's sketch? Yep, I must really like this SG sketch. It does use lots of different patterned papers, and big pieces of them, at that. This was a library craft day with R & C and their best friends. I find it hard to incorporate the moustache trend without it feeling forced. It was fortuitous that the book of the day was Moe's Moustache. Volia! Veneer die cuts have an appropriate home.

Another thing I did this past summer was to get back into making 3x4 pocket cards. (AKA as Counterfeit Project Life cards.) I wanted to use up the little letters and words from MME that was in February's kit. First, I had a bunch of thumbnail photos that didn't seem to have a purpose. I had scrapped all the 4x6 photos already, but they were too sweet to just toss. With scraps of paper, and sewing for texture, the resulting mini-layouts or title cards were crafted.

These tiny canvases are so fun. I continued to try to use up the stickers and die cuts in the four kits that were already mixed up. The resulting journal cards and title cards can be used for more than layouts. Why hide them all in the dark of an album? They are great for a note in a lunch kit. They can also be used as a book marker or a gift tag. Even as a coaster.

And that my friends, is what I have managed to complete in the past four months. (My last round up and review was in June) There is hope though for more regular activity on this blog. Summer is gone. Autumn is winding down. And you know me. I don't like to do anything outside in the cold.  Two weeks ago we planted 90 peony plants. Today I will put in garlic spinach and dill. That just about wraps up the garden for this year. Meanwhile, I have resorted the four previously mentioned kits into their respective boxes. I have made about a dozen page kits by matching papers to a handful of derelict photos that never seem to leave the prestaging pile. Also at hand are almost twenty layouts in various stages of work. Some of these are Rebecca's and Cohen's work that need titles and journaling. You will have to give your opinion in the comments if you would like to see these when completed. And I have three new kits to work with. Two of which have yet to be revealed. Sooooooo.......don't worry about me. I'll be back as the fasted tape gun in the west, sooner than you can say "hard frost."

Thanks for popping by. Double thanks for comments.
