Scrappy New Year!
Toying with the idea of "one word",I have not found that one that feels right. But if I move to phrases to ponder, artist Janice Tanton's wish for a year of "gentle making" gives me pause and a feeling of inner satisfaction that indicates I might have found my word(s).
First of the year, is also first of the month and the beginning of another round at Counterfeit Kit Challenge. The inspiration kit is Hip 2 Be Square December Kit and Oh Deer Me Embellishment kit.
After studying the kit and all the master forgers' kits in the blog hop posted on CKC, and falling head over heals in love with Lynnette's Jack Frost, I made a radical decision and instead of building my kit, sheet by sheet, chose to work with a collection I had on hand. One of the sheets in Lynnette's kit is from My Mind's Eye "All Is Bright". I picked this kit up late November at Winners. Have already tucked into it and am happy to continue with it for the first stretch of the year.
Here are the papers. The top right one is a repeat from Lynette's kit. All of it is My Minds' Eye/All is Bright.
The chipboard diecuts, gems, layered stickers and buttons that came in the kit are all MME/All is Bright. Exception being the yellow twine and wood frame are MME/Indie Chic.
Then of course I have to pull in from the old stash to make it my own.
Prima flowers, Stickles, Crate Paper layered stickers, Close to My heart washi, Creative Memories gems and epoxy spots, CTMH waxy flax, Vintage Denison Christmas seals,Greatest View mini paper doilies. The yarn, red bakers twine, flowered washi are all manufacturer unknown.
And when I piled it all together I got this. A little cozier in colour saturation than the inspiration. Also I replaced the pink with red. After all, red really is just another shade of pink.
And in keeping things simple for this kit I am taking advantage of the manufacture's design team's efforts and sticking with the name "All Is Bright."
Hope you enjoyed my kit reveal. Thanks for stopping by. Double thanks for comments.

ReplyDeleteso happy to see you with your kit already! You certainly move fast. Your kit is gorgeous (have yet to pop in to Lynette's but you've made me more than curious). I like the idea of going for a whole collection, something I've not done but can see it working for me. Am looking forward to a year of Sherrie and all your gentle creating :-)

Love the softness of your kit!! MME is my absolute favorite paper manufacturer and I don't think I have any of this line. That's scary, knowing how much of their paper I do have. LOL!! Can't wait to see what you do with your kit!
ReplyDeleteReally fun kit! Can't wait to see what you make with it!
