January Members' Hop

Hello friend, and welcome to the January 2017 Member's Blog Hop.

As this is my first post of the new year, there are a few bits of news to share.

I still have CKC kits from two years ago, on my shelf.
Lifestyle changes have left me with less and less time to create layouts.
It is still my intention to participate and contribute with the CKC group.
So for a new years resolution, it will be my goal to create one layout, (I hear your gafaw out there. I know that my "over achieving" side is going to want to do more) each month, using the inspiration kit as the, well, inspiration.

So this month with the blues and teals of Ubud Dreams

I came up with this one page layout. Inspiration was also taken from Pam "Whimsical Nature" on flikr. Using three pieces of patterned paper, a photo. Title within the journaling and one bit of embellishment. I spent more time thinking about this layout than it took to put it together. That's good. I have more time to think than to craft.

(Lousy photo and no time to retake or crop. So sorry. )

Had you asked, I would have said, "No I'm not a knitter." That changed when a ball of the softest yarn, ever (in variegated ombres of teal, green purple and brown) crossed my path. I was smitten and the rest is history. Ask me now and the answer is "YES! I knit scarves!"

And now off to Cindy to see her creations.

    1. Thanks Julene. It's interesting to note that I can knit at times and in places that scrapping cannot be done (easily). Robin challenged me, last night, to make scarves for family Christmas presents. So that's now one layout and two scarves per month.

  2. Lovely layout..I know one layout a month doesn't seem like much, but if that is what is managable for you, then that is what will work. Creating and enjoying creating is the goal...one project at a time. Thank you for taking the time to put this together and sharing it with us!

    1. Thanks Sara. I may only have 12 layouts by the end of the year, but I promise, they will be really good ones.

  3. Baby steps, right? It's hard when life changes give us less time for things we used to enjoy so much but if you do one page a month, you're still creating and using up supplies. Love the three columns of patterned pattern and all those pretty shades of blue on your page. See you next month!

    1. Don't you know it, Susan. But I am also enjoying that which has encroached on my scrappy time. One of the problems for me, about having less personal craft time is that I replace the playing with product with the accumulation of product. Result being that stash is growing each month. Oh but someday I will have more free time again and I have so many ideas!

  5. I think it's fabulous that you've recognised how much you still want to scrap and given yourself a manageable goal. !2 layouts at the end of the year will feel so good and if it's 13 or even 14, then all the better. But the pressure's off. None of us have as much time as in the past, it feels. And your idea of them being well thought out, purposeful layouts is also lovely. That knitting looks gorgeous - I'm really NOT a knitter! Respect! ;-)

  6. Super cute layout :) love the colors together and so cool to have the yarn in the same colors too :) Oh my I'm glad I' not the only one that still has kits from 2 years ago! Been working through my brain what kind of goals to make to get those old kits used up :) I agree with Lisa it's great to know your limitaitions due to work and making a goal for yourself :) Thank you for the advice over on my blog about the tractor layout. Will be going through all my old tractor layouts and talking to my husband about getting the needed information from him and getting it on the layout
