A Bird in the Hand

My experience with the Counterfeit Kit Challenge was so positive, I couldn't wait a month for the next one. Going back in their blog I found new inspiration with the April 2012 challengeIt is from Kits de Somni and the inspiration kit is in a newsletter (PDF). The fact that it is not in English stumped me a bit, because I couldn't just read down the list and pull the best match from my stash. So I printed out the pages I was trying to counterfeit from and just checked off the picture of  each patterned paper and element as I compiled the kit.

And so may I present, "A Bird in the Hand"

17 pieces of patterned paper, ten of which are double sided.
One off cut (bottom row, first on right.)
Thickers, Lullaby
Basic Grey, chip stickers and bloomers
Prima flowers
Daisy bucket rub-ons
Mini tags, American Crafts
Draw tickets that didn't win anything and  3 die cut tags I made about five years ago.
Assortment of ribbons and buttons, antique book pages, and paper doilies.

And to encourage me to do some "technique" stuff, manila tags and a Heidi Snapp mini mask

In an effort to clean up the workspace,  I tossed a few items in a basket. The goal is to use it or loose it. This "last chance"  kit addition includes:
Some chip titles
Set of chipboard alphas that are  mostly used up
A denim pocket from Hot of the Press
Four die-cuts that I don't know what to do with
Four fabric and button flowers I made a couple of weeks ago
A few pieces of interesting packaging.

Cardstock will be added as needed. Also twine, more buttons, glimmer mist, inks, etcetera. Hmmmm.....now which photo shall I begin with?

  1. CLEVER! I do my kits by photo often and this is a perfect example of how to create a wonderful kit with what you already have - even if you couldn't match them all up exactly. Wonderful and what a mega kit! Wow. How many layouts do you hope to make.

Just a word - the link on the Mr Linky to your blog doesn't appear to be working.

    1. Thanks Lisa, I don't have much of an idea as to how many pages can me made. The first layout took up most of two pages. Depends if you are wall-papering or using various strips. We shall see. The count is on....."one"....

Thanks for the note on the linky. I am so new to this. The one that isn't working is when I tried to link the address to the title of the post. All the other ones are to the blog, and you will arrive at the latest ramblings, not necessarily the post you are looking for. I will try to see if Bethany can fix it.

  4. Hi vintage sheet nutter here! Thought that was funny! I want to 'pick your brain', in other words, get some ideas! I don't do paper crafts but now have acquired loads of vintage wallpapes. I have a little trolley and some tables I will paint and put the wallpaper on the table top, what else could I do with them? Ada :)

    1. I have a penchant for odd rolls of wall paper also. I thought it was my own strange affliction, until I happened upon teawagon tales and you. I have tried to use it to wrap gifts with limited success. Maybe I will try to make gift bags out of it. If a person is interested in archival quality, I would not recommend using it on scrapbook pages. But it could be quite useful in card making. Especially if you like to fussy-cut motifs. I will be watching your blog to see what you come up with.

    3. Oh do give it a go! Cards are easy-peasy. Can be made quickley and with left over bits. (inexpensive) and if you don't like how it turns out, then just give it to someone you don't like. ;)
