Lazy Hazy Days

Greetings and Salutations! The relocation of household and studio has been completed. The settling in has only begun. The scrappy supplies are mostly still in bins, but they are well labeled so with bit of digging the object of desire usually surfaces. It has been a full three months since any serious crafty action has happened around here. However the drought is over. August first was the reveal of a new inspiration kit at Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog. The choice this month is Studio Calico's Penny Arcade.  There are three kits and three add-on kits to draw ideas from. Thanks to Leslie for this compilation photo.

I took the obvious route and built my kit around the main scrapbook kit.
Starting with the paper.
I think I might have finally caught the "counterfeit" bug from Leslie, who often creates her own papers. The white spots on gold where easy to do with gesso and a finger tip sponge applicator.
My papers look like this.

Pink with small flower,  muk (manufacturer unknown).
Gold, muk.
Wild Hearts, Lucky Charm, Dear Lizzy, American Crafts.
Clouds, Hello Friend, Glitz Design.
Map page is torn from a 1960's grade school atlas.
Needing something bold with black, the best I had on hand was French Country , Trellis, Three Bugs in a Rug.
For the large feather print I free hand drew and cut out a similar shape to use as embellies.
And the bold alpha paper has a linear energy to it, so I chose a coral stripe, muk.
The cardstocks are all Bazzil, except for the bright blue which is Creative Memories. The oversize cardstock tag needs to find a home. It is on "use it or loose it" status.

Then the fun begins with the embellies.

Wood veneer Alphas (Studio Calico). Look at what I got at a hardware store sidewalk sale for pennies per package. All this for under $4.00!

White and Silver doilies(Studio Calico)
I had one small silver doily but made a couple more using silver glaze.
The pink doily paper is by Basic Grey.
Metal Circle Set (Studio Calico) is represented by the silver glitter roses fussy-cut from cardstock, muk.
Stamp Stickers (Studio Calico) Nothing of this sort on hand, so I looked for the colours in my stash and pulled three flags by Bella Boulevard, and three of my counterfeit project life cards that I started making way back here.
1x6" Stamp Set (Ashley Goldberg for Studio Calico)  I subbed in My Sunshine, Inque Boutique.
Clouds Mini Mask (Ashley Goldberg by Studio Calico) Here's where I had the most fun. Using a Colluzal cloud template and an oversized playing card from Heidi Snapp (sent to me by Lisa) I came up with those happy little puffy faces with heart shaped mouths.

Transparency Diamonds (Kal Barteski for Studio Calico) will be represented by the Marquee Enamal Shapes by Close to My Heart.
Spool of Pink Yarn (Studio Calico)  is pink embroidery floss, muk.
Large White Tag (Studio Calico) It's a bit of a stretch but the large, beige tag in the cardstock pulls double duty for this item also.
Yellow & White Crepe Paper (Studio Calico) is replaced with icy silver ruffled ribbon by Websters Pages.
Item for item, I have created my own budget version from what I had on hand. May I present Lazy Hazy Days.

If you have never played along with CKCB I urge you to join us and give it a whirl. You might be surprised at how much fun it can be, to shop your stash and then work with that new kit you just built.

Thanks for stopping round. Double thanks for comments.

  12. I'm late checking out your kit *hanging head in shame* and what a kit it is! Fab. U. Lous! Really lovely. Of course, it makes me more than happy to see those cards being put to use but the other forgeries are also great. I think I owe you a mail - it's been crazy round here (as I know it has been for you too) and we are on the move (again) so I'm hoping that things will settle soon and then I'll write. Sending love across the miles!
